What to have ready
Whether you call or email, these are the things that determine what we can tell you, so it saves a round trip if you have them to hand:
- Who is requiring the fingerprints — an employer, a licensing board, an agency, a court, a foreign government
- Any form they gave you, particularly a Request for Live Scan Service form, which carries the ORI code that decides where your results go
- Whether you have been told to use Live Scan, ink cards, or an FBI background check — and if you are not sure, say so, because that question is worth settling first
- Your deadline
Mobile appointments
Fingerprinting does not have to happen in an office. Appointments can be performed at a workplace, a home, a hospital, a law office or a job site anywhere in Los Angeles.
If your fingerprints have already been rejected
Bring or send the rejection notice. The reason stated on it determines whether a second electronic attempt is sensible or whether ink cards are the better route — and the reason is rarely what applicants expect.
